Lipe Art Park is an intriguing blend of public art projects, outdoor venue, and recreational space, sprawling across approximately 2 acres in the city's Westside Arts District. Established on June 1st, 2007, the park's goal was to transform an urban vacant lot into a vibrant space for community engagement and creative expression. Over the years, it has hosted seasonal exhibitions and temporary installations.
This year artists where given a prompt to develop work inspired by the theme of ART + INVENTION. Check out these amazing creations below, and come see them in person on July 19th for our unveiling celebration ART EXTRAVAGANZA from 12pm - 5pm in Lipe Art Park.
This mural, inspired by the theme Art + Invention, is a visual celebration of self-creation and the power of imagination. At the heart of the piece is a Black woman blowing a bubble, with the words “invent yourself” centered inside. The bubble symbolizes the ongoing journey of self-discovery and personal transformation—playful, powerful, and full of possibility.
Behind her, the mural features blueprints—evoking the process of building, planning, and dreaming. They serve as a metaphor for the inner work it takes to create oneself. The woman also holds a glowing light bulb, a classic symbol of invention and bright ideas. In this context, the light bulb represents not just innovation, but the spark within us all to shape our own paths and identities.
The color palette of blues and pinks creates a striking balance of softness and strength, adding emotion and vibrancy to the message. Altogether, the mural encourages viewers to reflect, imagine, and boldly invent their most authentic selves.

Tena-city is a creation of an organic woven sculpture in Lipe Art Park, which serves as a dialogue between nature and industry. Crafted from willow branches and saplings, the sculpture contrasts the raw industrial sculpture by Brendan Rose. Sydney's sculpture intends to celebrate the fluidity and adaptability of nature, encouraging contemplation of coexistence between humanity and the environment.
Due to the nature of the material the timeframe of the sculpture is designed to evolve, reflecting the organic growth of the willow and the influence of those who weave it. This evolution represents the ever-changing nature of life, emphasizing flexibility and adaptation. The piece invites viewers to engage with its natural textures and reflect on their connection to the environment.
Ultimately, the sculpture embodies the potential harmony between the man-made and the natural, inspiring appreciation for the delicate balance that sustains the world. Sydney's hope for this sculpture to represent the tenacity of nature. The sculpture currently in the park by Brendan Rose was intended to be used by cross fit athletes, but has been left untouched. The woven sculpture will weave and engulf the untouched sculpture in hopes to convey the tenacity of nature.
This sculpture will be on view at Lipe from June 2025 till September 2025.

This mural is inspired by the mystical roots of science: ancient alchemists who dreamed of turning base metals into gold, modern scientists who turn invisible atoms into world-changing technology, and the artists and thinkers who remind us that wonder is just as essential as logic. It stands as a bold invitation for viewers to see the hidden magic in research, creativity, and community--and to remember that the future is built by those willing to dream impossibly.
The primary shape in the center of the flag is a silhouette of the art park, which already imparts a shape similar to a brush. The green of the art park represents the nature, whereas the brick color blew represents the industrial buildings surrounding the area, providing a backdrop of innovation for the art park itself. The yellow curved shape at the top not only is that of the locomotives that drive by, and also forms a sun representing the new artistic ideas coexisting the industry. Five gear teeth add to the innovation theme while also mirroring the five t-panels found in the park itself.
